Team GB looking for home success at World Taekwondo Championships

Up to 1,000 athletes representing 150 nations will compete at the iconic Manchester Arena in the Taekwondo World Championships this week.

Team GB will have high hopes of their experienced, multi-medal winning athletes and up and coming prospects already with one eye towards Olympic qualification at Paris 2024.

Double Olympic gold medallist Jade Jones will be looking to secure a first world title, her teammate Bianca Walkden meanwhile is aiming for an incredible three in a row.

Lutalo Muhammad, Bradly Sinden, Christian McNeish, Damon Sansum and Mahama Cho are representing the Team GB males, all hoping to become the first ever male able-bodied World Champion.

“The squad is a great combination of experienced, in-form, new and developing athletes, all super excited to be taking part in a historic World Championships in their own back yard,” Performance Director Gary Hall told GB Taekwondo.

“We believe we have a strong squad to do it justice. If they all hit form it should be a great championship for GB Taekwondo.

“We have a target of three to five medals and we feel we are capable of winning three to five.”
