After recently becoming the first British male World Champion, Bradly Sinden has gone on to increase his 2019 tally with a Bronze medal at the Rome Grand Prix. There were also medals for squad members at the Austrian Open.
Sinden suffered his first defeat of the year when losing in the semi-finals to South Korean rival, Lee Dae-Hoon.
Heavyweight Mahama Cho returned to form defeating Cuban world title holder, Rafael Alba, on his way to the last four of the +80kg division. Ruslan Zhaparov from Azerbaijan proved a step too far for Cho leaving him with a Bronze finish.
There was further success at the Austrian Open where Jack Spall (+87kg), Mason Yarrow (-58kg) and Maddison Moore (-49kg) all won their respective weight divisions, and Jonathan Bangura (+87kg) and Brandon Jewell (-87kg) each collected bronze medals.
Heavyweight Spall claimed gold against Luka Mavracic from Croatia. Mason Yarrow defeated Georgia’s Zurab Kintsurashvill, while Maddison Moore won over home favourite Jennifer Stingl.
