Bradley Sinden and Lauren Williams got the ball rolling, each claiming a Bronze medal. Sinden progressed to the semi final before losing out to Russian Aleksey Denisenko.
He told GB Taekwondo, “I had hoped for the win but just got caught at the end, I can take plenty of positives from the day. I have been developing really well as an athlete. I just need to keep pushing, getting more medals and climbing the rankings”
Welsh kicking sensation Lauren Williams also enjoyed a strong tournament in the women’s -67kg division.
Having moved through to the semi final, Williams lost out to Weit Henin before taking Bronze.
Taekwondo's golden girls Jade Jones and Bianca Walkden took Gold and Bronze respectively to complete the medal tally.
25 year old Jones defeated Spaniard, Marta Calvo Gomez 14-12 in the -57kg final. “I have started enjoying myself again. You go through phases when you are expected to win and you get a little scared of losing. Now, I am thriving off it again and it showed” Jones told GB Taekwondo.
For Walkden, it was an unwanted repeat of last month’s European Championship final, losing out to Kowalczuk. However she was positive about the result and said “This isn’t going to knock me down. The main goal is to become Olympic and World champion.
