It's the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be a nightmare for fitness regimes. Closed gyms, cancelled training, mince pies, chocolate, roast dinners and alcohol, all add up to a difficult time to stay on top your training.
We've put together some easy to implement tips which will help you keep in shape over Christmas.
1. Drink lots of water
Stay hydrated. Not only could this cure your hangover, it will keep your muscles and joints fresh for training, and can help ease cravings and stop you from snacking.
2. Get outdoors
You probably won't have time to train as much as normal, so plan some outdoor activities where you can get active and burn some calories. This way, you can include your family and friends too!
3. Watch what you drink
Alcoholic drinks are renowned for a high calorie content, and on a night out or at a party, the calories can really mount up. An easy way to make sure you don't overindulge at Christmas is to limit the amount of alcohol you drink - try water instead!
4. Fit training in when you can
Although plenty of water and outdoor activities will help, you should try to fit some training in when you can. Try going for an early(ish) morning run when everyone else is still asleep.
5. Plan ahead
Christmas is such a busy time so it's important to plan ahead where you might be able to fit in a workout. You could also decide to time your training so it's the day before a party, allowing you a bit more guilt free indulgence!
Remember to have a great Christmas!
