Chris Aston takes World Series Silver in Austria

GB's Chris Aston claimed two Silver medals at the Austrian Classics World Series Kickboxing Event in Olympiaworld Innsbruck. Competing in the -94kg point fighting category, and the open weight Grand Champion event.

After his recent World Series success in Milan, Chris ought to have been confident of adding to his 2018 honours.

Chris dispatched some of the worlds best points fighters on his way to the -94kg final. There he met Anatoli Kuschnir who took the bout to claim Gold and leave Chris with a 2nd place finish.

Chris found further success in the open weight 'Grand Champion' event, taking a second silver medal, losing only to recent martialarts-online interviewee Roland 'Royal' Veres (Click here to read his interview).

He defeated Alex Veres 6-0, and Gabriele Oliva 9-6 before taking on Devid Pintore in the semi-final, claiming a 6-1 victory. The final was agonisingly close for Chris, just losing out to Roland Veres 9-10. Luisa Gullotti from Italy managed to beat GB's Shannon Ryan (UK) in the ladies Grand Champion event. Ryan was so close to taking Gold, losing out 10-14.

Two GB Gold successes did come in the form of Ellie Harvey, competing in YC points fighting +47kg and beating Boglarka Koszecz 8-6. Whilst youngster Cory Cook grabbed himself Gold in the -63KG OC category, defeating German fighter Pascal Seifert in the final.
