Aston & Everill lead the way for GB Kickboxing
Kickboxing stars Chris Aston and Elijah Everill are leading the line for the United Kingdom, taking three Gold medals between them at the WAKO European Championships.
Everill was the top GB performer, taking Gold in both his Points Fighting and Light Contact divisions. He defeated Hungarian serial winner Alex Veres in his point fighting final, before making his way to the gold medal match in Light Contact.
In the -69kg final, Elijah once again came out on top against Italian fighter Mattia Amatuzio.
He said on his victories, "I have to say this is one of the hardest competitions I have ever won, the draws were not easy for me to say the least, having to fight world champion after world champion to keep progressing in the tournament"
"The fact that it was so hard makes it all the more rewarding and I really couldn’t be happier with how things played out this week." He continued.
" My goal in this sport is to go down as an all time great, to be one of the best to ever do this, I am not there yet and I still have much to learn but it’s always a great feeling to know your heading in the right direction."
His team mate Chris Aston is back on the victory trail after suffering a fractured jaw earlier in the year. This is his second title in as many months, having won Gold at the Bristol Open in October.
Chris claimed victory, and became European champion in the Points Fighting +94KG section, winning over Germany's Erdogan Celik.
The fourth and final GB Gold was in the Full Contact section, Tennesse Randall winning through at the -56KG weight.
Gemma Upfold and Fin Heesom each added silver medals to the GB haul, losing out to Italians Deborah De Vita and Timothy Bos respectively.
Kieran Jones also found himself on the second step of the podium, in the Full Contact -54KG, he lost out to Daniil Troiakov of Russia.
Elizabeth Jackman, John Dalton and Monika Markowska each claimed Bronze in their respective divisions. Taking the GB medal total to ten.
