The World Taekwondo Grand Prix is coming to Manchester from October 19th - 21st, and Team GB have announced a squad of 16 fighters #kickingforglory.
Olympic champion Jade Jones and World Champion Bianca Walkden head the team which will be harboring hopes of a home medal haul. Jones and Walkden each won the overall last year with heavyweight Walkden unbeaten in the 2017 series.
Bianca Walkden has claimed silver and bronze medals so far in the series while teammate Jones added another gold to her collection from her appearance in the Italian edition.
The GB squad has so far claimed a total of nine medals from this year’s events. Only South Korea and Russia have won more.
Also featuring in the squad is reigning European gold medallist Christian McNeish along with his divisional competitor and prolific medal winner, Bradly Sinden.
Double Olympian Lutalo Muhammad takes on the rest of the world at +80kg, competing in a new section after moving up from -80kg. Damon Sansum, who won his second World Championship medal in South Korea last year, is the sole representative fot GB at -80kg.
There will be a Grand Prix debut in the women’s competition for rising starlet, Molly Dunbavin. She joins the team which also includes junior world champion Jordyn Smith, former kickboxer Lauren Williams and youth Olympian Kyla Julien.
