British Judo claimed it's biggest European medal haul in 20 years, amassing an impressive 5 individual medals across the 3 day competition in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Ashley McKenzie got the ball rolling with his second European Judo Championship medal (following bronze in 2013.) He took on Ukraine’s Artem Lesyuk in the bronze medal match and won through to claim the third place.
The second day of competition was a day of firsts. Sally Conway took silver in the -70kg final, Gemma Howell won bronze in the same section, and European debutant Lucy Renshall also took bronze in -63kg. All three winning their first European medals on a fantastic day for British Judo.
Finally, Natalie Powell ensured that GB Judo finished the 2018 European Judo Championships on a high as she won bronze. Following medals in 2016 and 2017, Powell took victory again Portugal’s Yahima Ramirez in the bronze medal match to complete a remarkable championships for Great Britain.
