Late last month, the WKC's (World Karate & Kickboxing Council) 10th European Championships were held at the George H Carnall sports centre in Manchester.
The European Open is a freestyle kickboxing and sport karate competition, bringing together competitors from any and all clubs that wish to take part.
In the Points Fighting, Men's section, Leon Gold took 1st place in the -75KG category defeating Craig Collins in the final, with James Anderson and Subayr Shire taking the -90KG and +90KG titles respectively.
The over 35yrs champions were David Bryan & Chris Gordon whilst Trevor Felix took the +42yrs title.
Lianne Jones reigned supreme in the Ladies tournament, impressively claiming both the -55KG and +70KG Gold medals. She dispatched Jaden Harris and Heather Wheal on the way to double gold.
The Light Contact (continuous) competition winners were Jack Thompson (-75KG), Aiden Playfoot (-80KG), Connor Pridding (-90KG) and Nathan Rollin (+90KG).
There was another double success in the ladies division, this time Sarah Donnelly taking the victories. Once again Jaden Harris was a defeated finalist along with Samantha Jopling.
In the over 35yrs category, Samuel Lund became European Champion by defeating Graham Tardie.
