Double delight for GB at junior Taekwondo World Championships

Jordyn Smith led the way at the junior Taekwondo World Championships in Tunisia by taking a stunning Gold medal in the -44kg section.

"After five tough fights I managed to push myself through to get on top of that podium"


The teenage prospect from Scotland secured the title with a 22-12 final win over a competitor from Thailand, taking her total win count in the competition to 5.


A thrilled Jordyn said -

"I can’t believe I can say that I am junior world champion. After five tough fights I managed to push myself through to get on top of that podium.


“Thank you so much for all my friends, teammates and family either in Tunisia or at home for all your support. A huge thank you to Mike Harvey for coaching me,” (Source GB Taekwondo).



Youngster Aaliyah Powell fought off competitors from the Philippines, Vietnam and Russia before beating Kanrawee Sompan from Thailand in the Gold medal match. Claiming GB's second title, this time in the -46kg division.
