A number of GB Taekwondo athletes traveled to Luxembourg to take part in the Luxembourg Open this weekend, coming away with a total of 5 medals, including Gold for Peter Radford.
Radford actually defeated his -68kg GB team mate Bradley Sinden in the gold medal match. After making their way to the final, they produced an epic contest with Radford finally coming out on top with a 23-21 verdict.
Olympic silver medalist Lutalo Muhammed claimed his third silver medal in a row in the -87kg, losing out to Russia’s Yury Kirichenko. Hassan Haider also took the number 2 spot, having lost 12-4 in the final to Frenchman Killyann Bonnet.
Junior World Champion Jordyn Smith continued her hot streak winning a bronze medal, as did heavyweight Jack Spall, losing 12-2 against Ukraine opponent Mykhailo Shelest at +87kg.
Delighted Gold medal winner Radford told GB Taekwondo:
“It was a hard day, I came back from Bulgaria last Sunday having fought four times. Here, I have done five and I could feel my body was very tired.
I just focused and took it fight by fight. It’s all about putting your mind in the right place and trying to smash it!"
